KODAheart returned to Austin for our Mother, Father Deaf Day Waffle event at the Austin Deaf Club held on April 26th. Mother, Father Deaf day is traditionally celebrated on the last Sunday in April and this year KODAheart wanted to celebrate with a waffle brunch with the Austin community. With the help of our local group of incredible volunteers, we were able to serve our homemade vegan waffles with all the toppings you could imagine to both parents and kids!
In-between eating our endless supply of waffles and socializing with one another, attendees took turns in our KODAheart photo booth, pulling out their craziest poses with our waffle inspired props. Check out our Waffle day photobooth album on our facebook page to view the filmstrip photos!
There was also fun “waffle” events for the kids to compete in, a waffle toss and waffle on a string were a huge hit! Many of the adults couldn’t handle just standing on the sidelines and several jumped in and took part in the waffle eat-off! The winners went home with their very own KODAheart shirt and waffle maker!
We had such a “waffle” time at our first MFD day event! It was great to see both old and new family and friends – A BIG thank you to the Austin Deaf Club for once again allowing us to host our event at their clubhouse. Of course it wouldn’t all be possible without the dedication of time from our AMAZING volunteers- you guys are awesome! We hope to see you all again soon!
