TSID Holiday Party event

IMG_0324On December 13th, Interpreters with Deaf Parents (IDP), a special interest group of the Texas Society of Interpreters for the Deaf (TSID) hosted their annual Holiday Party for the Deaf residents of the LaVista Retirement Community. Approximately 15 IDP members gathered together to serve a delightful feast for everyone, play games, socialize with the residents, and celebrate the holidays!

ThIMG_1654e IDP also hosted a food drive collecting non-perishable food items to help fill the community pantry for the LaVista residents. This also included gift card donations to area stores which were given to the residents and help make the holiday a little bit brighter. KODAheart Vice President Bobby Loeffler attended and helped out with the holiday festivities. However, he did not go empty handed- KODAheart was able to donate 30 cans of soup for the LaVista pantry as well as 22 gift cards for the residents.

The community expressed a tremendous heartfelt thank you for the outpouring of generosity from the IDP members, as well as the ASL community in central Texas. The IDP members were filled with the cheer of bringing joy to the deaf residents of LaVista, and a wonderful time was had by all!
