While sightseeing in downtown Austin during our last visit, the KODAheart crew stopped by the HOPE Outdoor Gallery, an outdoor art gallery solely focused on graffiti art. We were immediately inspired by all the artwork to add our own ‘mark’ and promptly began researching how we could take part. After brainstorming and creating a fun concept with the heartfinity logo, we sent in our idea to the coordinators at SprATX. We were thrilled to get word that our design was approved, we excitedly put together plans to tackle our masterpiece during the Mother Father Deaf Day Waffle weekend!
As soon as we landed in Austin, went straight to SprATX to pick up the permit and began gathering all the necessary graffiti supplies. This included a stop at Austin ReBlend to grab our base color from Austin Resource Recovery, a company that specializes in decreasing waste and increasing recycling! We arrived at the HOPE Outdoor Gallery and began our search for an ideal location for our artwork. Upon finding the perfect spot, we got right to work on our design. It was a blazing hot Austin day and we had many spectators stop by and check out our masterpiece, curious about learning more about our organization!
After a long day of painting, our project was finally complete! We couldn’t be more proud of the final result- We felt so fortunate to work alongside other artists creating and contributing to the beautiful pieces across the gallery.
