We are jumping for joy because KODAheart’s second annual “Jump with KODAheart” event was a blast time! On November 21st, k/codas of all ages and Deaf parents met with members of the KODAheart team at SKY Zone, in Fishers, Indiana, for a fun community-building afternoon. We had a great time seeing old and new faces and we were so excited to spend time with the midwest community!

From 1-4 pm the families that IMG_4895attended the event met and mingled on the main floor. Parents, KODAheart members, as well as some Indiana codas engaged in conversations about communication styles in their home as well as discussing strategies of how to promote ASL usage with their own children. Ideas were shared about possible future family events in the Indiana area. Meanwhile, the kodas took over the dodgeball courts, competed in very intense jumping competitions – a flip or two may have been shown off. As our end time approached we took a couple group photos and families exchanged information before leaving the venue. The fun did not end at SKY Zone, a group of codas planned a meet up at a local restaurant after the event! Great discussion and delicious food was enjoyed by all- the perfect end to an amazing day!

Thank you to all the c/kodas, families and the volunteers who were able to attend this event. Your support and feedback allows us to continue to grow and to be a resource to you and your family! We look forward to the next Indiana KODAheart event! The second Jump with KODAheart was a great success- any suggestions of where should we have the third?
